Is there a parking or admission cost?
Don Edwards Park does not charge for parking. However, certain events such as OHSAA events, tournaments, collegiate games, etc are subject to a daily or weekend admission cost. If you have a question regarding admission cost, please reach out to us or the director of the tournament/event. Overnight parking is not permitted at Don Edwards Park. The ballpark is also not responsible for any damages to vehicles.
Is the ballpark handicap or elderly accessible?
Don Edwards Park has many handicap parking spaces available. Visitors are able to drive to fields 3, 4, and 5. This allows closer drop offs to seating areas located around each field.
Do you require teams to stay at predetermined hotels?
Don Edwards Park does not require teams to stay in certain hotels to participate in our events. We have partnered with the Double Tree by Hilton, to provide top notch accommodations for your visit to the ballpark. The Double Tree is located just minutes from the ballpark at 50 N. Second St. in downtown Newark. Non-Don Edwards run events and tournaments may have different “stay to play” requirements. If you are unsure if your tournament requires specific hotel choices, please contact your tournament director.
Can I bring outside food/drink in?
Yes! Food and drink can be brought into the ballpark. No more having to sneak it in your purse or backpack. However, groups are NOT permitted to have “meal spreads” at any location inside the park. Personal coolers are permitted but are subject to search by park staff. Absolutely NO GRILLS of any kind are allowed in the facility. Please remember that we are a local ballpark dependent on concessions sales to keep the show going.
Can I bring my pets to the facility?
Yes! We love seeing your four legged family members around the ballpark. All pets must be leashed or under direct control of their owner. Pet owners are liable for their pet and are responsible for cleaning up after them. Pets are prohibited from entering playing areas without prior approval from ballpark administration.
How do I know if our game is still on?
Don Edwards staff will notify coaches through emails and texts to provide the most up to date decisions as possible. We do our best to post to our social medias as well, but sometimes we are busy working on the fields! Outside tournaments hosted at Don Edwards should refer to their tournament director.
Are smoking and alcohol allowed?
All alcohol, smoking, and tobacco products are strictly prohibited within the ballpark. There are designated smoking areas available outside the fences.
What is there to do in Newark during our visit?
We sit right in historic Downtown Newark, with many excited shops, restaurants, and attractions to visit. Whether that’s visiting the Canal Market for a bite from food trucks, a walk at the Dawes Arboretum, or a interactive experience at The Works just to name a few.
